Meet the Photographer...

Liz Hastings.

“The best thing about a picture is that it
never changes, even when the people in it do.”
– Andy Warhol

My love for photography began in high school during my senior year, when I took my first photography class using my father’s old Pentax SLR. Learning with a manual film camera gave me a deep appreciation for composition and light — and sparked my fascination with capturing the perfect shot. I developed my own film and prints in the darkroom, an experience that taught me patience, precision, and the beauty of getting it right in-camera.

Alongside photography, I also discovered a passion for computers and digital design. Naturally, I combined these two interests in college, earning a Certificate in Digital Imaging. The program included four photography courses, three advanced Photoshop classes, and additional semesters in InDesign, Illustrator, Web Design, and CSS using Adobe Dreamweaver — all of which built a strong foundation for my creative and technical work.

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed freelance photography projects and capturing landscapes while camping, hiking, and backpacking — with more than a dozen award-winning photos recognized in various contests.

Professionally, I spent 17 years as Senior Photo Editor at DigMyPics.com, a nationwide photo scanning company. My role centered on color correction and restoration using Adobe Photoshop. I was promoted to Production Manager twice and had the privilege of working on an incredible range of imagery — from family photos and professional portfolios to crime lab archives, university slides, astronomy collections, and even major television network archives. Every image told a story, and my mission was always to bring each one back to life as authentically as possible.
